Featured Watershed Group
Mill Creek Watershed Council
The Mill Creek Watershed covers 106 square miles in Southwest
Ohio. About half the city of Cincinnati lies within Mill Creek;
more than 450,000 people are estimated to live within the
watershed's natural boundaries. The Mill Creek Watershed Council
was formed in 1995 in response to growing concern over the
health of the watershed, which was declared in 1993 to be
the worst environmental problem in the greater Cincinnati
area. Today, the Mill Creek Watershed council has been successful
in promoting awareness, environmental cleanup, flood control,
and recreational activities on waterways of Mill Creek. Among
the group's projects and events is "Capture the Creek",
an annual event aimed at raising awareness of the environmental
problems the watershed faces. Held at the Cincinnati Museum
of Art, last year's "Capture the Creek" featured
34 local artists inspired to portray the natural beauty of
the area's waterways. The event included the exhibit, a formal
dinner, and a silent auction, with proceeds going to Mill
Creek Watershed Council projects. To learn more about the
