Tools for Community Design and Decision Making
Since the fall of 1998, the US Department of Energy, in partnership
with a number of other organizations, has helped organize
four national meetings on Tools for Community Design and Decision
Making (TCDDM). These meetings included community practitioners
working in the areas of land use planning and community development;
tool providers developing state-of-the-art decision support
tools or fine tuning tools that have been available for many
years; and foundations and public service agencies working
to advance the development and utilization of planning support
tools. Visit the website at http://www.i4sd.org/TCDDM/
to learn more about these meetings and tools that can help
you build your community group.
EPA Watershed Initiative
As part of this community-based initiative, EPA will target
up to 20 of the US's highly valued watersheds for grants.
This program will support local communities in their efforts
to expand and improve existing protection measures with tools,
training, and technical assistance. EPA will be working with
state governors, tribes, and other interested parties on this
initiative. Visit http://www.epa.gov/owow/watershed/initiativefs.html
for more information.
