The Watershed Project Management Guide, by Thomas E. Davenport
This book presents an approach to watershed management based
on a collaborative process that responds to common needs
and goals. This recommended process consists of a series
of four basic phases: assessment, planning, implementation,
and evaluation. The four-phase approach helps watershed
practitioners develop a plan consistent with the recently
released USDA-EPA Watershed Management Planning and Implementation
Process guide. The process can be used to implement a management
strategy to meet the load allocations required by an approved
TMDL, the goals of Source Water Protection Plan, USDA programs
such as EQIP, or Section 319 projects. To order, visit
www.crcpress.com or call 1.800.272.7737.
RiverSmart
RiverSmart will be sending out a Grassroots Tool Kit to all
River Network Partner Groups. The Tool Kit, on CD-ROM,
includes TV, print, and radio advertisements, along with
helpful information about working with local media and
building community support for your group. If you are not
already a River Network Partner Group, you can still take
advantage of additional components of the Tool Kit, which
will be offered via the RiverSmart web site. Please visit
www.riversmart.org to take the RiverSmart pledge. Contact
Glin Varco at gvarco@rivernetwork.org or 503.241.3506 for
assistance with the RiverSmart Campaign.
Storm Water Phase II Menu of BMPs
The EPA now has a site on Storm Water Phase II Menu of Best
Management Practices. The menu is intended to provide guidance
to regulated small MS4s as to the types of practices they
could use to develop and implement their storm water management
programs.
