Featured Watershed Group

Kentucky Waterways Alliance
The Kentucky Waterways Alliance (KWA) operates to protect and restore Kentucky’s waterways and watershed. KWA seeks to achieve this by building alliances for their stewardship. Over 300 organizations and more than 1,500 individuals volunteer time for water quality monitoring, skills development, and advocacy. KWA is currently handling eight watershed projects with direct involvement from stream side land owners, high school science groups, support agencies such as Agricultural Extension and the NRCS, municipal entities, college faculty and students, environmental groups, industrial environmental engineers, and other interested stakeholders. KWA offers training workshops in basic stream monitoring, provides technical assistance to local watershed groups on dealing with the issues raised by monitoring and assessment efforts, and conducts fall “Watershed Protection Conferences” in each of the eight local watershed organizations. On this site, you can register with the KWA, view the 2002 events schedule, or even sign up for an event or workshop. There are also links to the eight watershed groups and project descriptions.
