Techniques for Successful Reforestation Workshop

Forest banking, preferred techniques for site preparation
and invasive species control, choosing plantings, and other
topics key to implementation of effective reforestation projects
will be discussed in this workshop designed for conservationists,
developers, public administrators and anyone involved in
the reforestation process. Compliance with the Forest Conservation
Act in the Baltimore-Washington area will be specifically

2003 Environmental Film Festival

Celebrating its eleventh year, the Environmental Film Festival
shows films with an environmental bent. Many film showings
are accompanied by discussions with filmmakers and environmental
experts. More than 100 films, including documentaries, animated
films, feature films, experimental projects, and children’s
films, will be shown. All events are open to the public and

Using Science to Assess Environmental Vulnerabilities
King of Prussia, PA
Sponsor: United States Environmental Protection Agency
Environmental policy-makers, research scientists and other
environmental professionals will meet at this conference
sponsoned by the U.S. EPA Office of Research and Development
to discuss environmental evaluation and administration. The
EPA ORD, working with state and local agencies, has centered
its work in four main areas, including measuring current
environmental conditions, determination of the causes of
environmental damage, projections of future environmental
conditions and potential trouble spots, and the creation
of restoration and remediation projects. Research strategies
developed by ORD’s Regional Environmental Vulnerability
Assessment (ReVA) program will be explored, with a focus
on environmental susceptibilities and risk reduction. All
researchers concerned with environmental vulnerability and
environmental forecasting are welcomed to take part in this
