Collaborative Learning for Environmental Management
A number of new resources have been posted on the Landcare
Research "Collaborative learning for environmental
management" website over the past two months. Many
of these resources relate to themes of stakeholder participation
and partnerships. The website provides information, frameworks
and processes which can be used by those wishing to more
effectively engage different groups of stakeholders in
research and development initiatives. A number of on-line
papers and reports are also available. Topics covered include
participation, organizational learning, group processes,
and the inclusion of local and indigenous knowledge and
values.

U.S. EPA and USGS: National Environmental Methods Index
(NEMI)
Created under the direction of the National Water Quality
Monitoring Council, NEMI is a free web site that allows users
to compare listed environmental monitoring methods based
on a number of search factors, including the analytes (chemical
and biological parameters), the media being measured (primarily
water analyses, but an increasing number of methods for media
other than water, such as soil and air, are being added to
the database), and performance information, including accuracy
and relative cost comparisons. This resource can be accessed
at http://www.nemi.gov.
