Biology Faculty Post, University of Charleston in
West Virginia
The University of Charleston is seeking a Ph.D. to fill a
permanent position in its Biological Science program. The
applicant should be able to teach a variety of courses, including
bacteriology, embryology, introductory biological science
courses for science majors, freshmen learning community classes
for non-science majors, and upper level courses dependent
upon the university’s needs and the candidate’s
abilities. Participation in research projects with undergraduates
in their fields of interest is also expected, and the ability
to contribute to the environmental science program is preferred.

Environmental Chemist/Staff Scientist, Stroud Water
Research Center
The Stroud Water Research Center in Avondale, Pennsylvania,
a nonprofit watershed research organization, is looking to
hire a full-time staff scientist to participate in research
on organic compounds in aquatic ecosystems. Projects run the
gamut from tracing pollution in streams feeding municipal
water sources to water cycling in the Amazon River. Data analysis,
sample collection, research method development, and inventory
management are among the position’s specific assigned
tasks. Qualified applicants will have a M.S. or B.S. in a
discipline of chemistry and 1-3 years experience with analytical
instruments. Applicants with specific environmental experience

Executive Director, Little Tennessee Watershed Association
Located in Franklin, North Carolina, the LTWA is a nonprofit
organization committed to the protection and restoration of
the Upper Little Tennessee River and its watershed. The full-time
Executive Director will work with the organization’s
board to develop the group by contributing technical and educational
assistance and by performing administrative functions. Specific
tasks will include building membership and volunteer recruitment,
collaborating with the Finance Committee to maintain the budget
and financial records, supervising public relations efforts,
implementation of the LTWA’s strategic plan, and other
duties. Qualifications include a bachelor’s degree or
equivalent experience, computer expertise, experience or training
in nonprofit operation and environmental education, and basic

Post-doctoral Ecologist, Canaan Valley Institute
The CVI has an opening for a post-doctoral ecologist to take
part in a 3-year watershed classification project. Abilities
should include knowledge in watershed science, landscape ecology,
land-water interactions, spatial statistics, and GIS mapping.
The job will involve working in a multidisciplinary team with
Penn State University. Compensation includes full benefits.
Some travel may be required within a several-hundred mile

Environmental Engineering Administrator, Department
of Public Works, Greenville, SC
The City of Greenville is looking to hire an administrator
to manage the Environmental Engineering Bureau, a division
of the Department of Public Works. The Engineering Bureau
is responsible for all city stormwater and floodplain issues,
including environmental inspections, sediment and erosion
control permits on commercial sites, drainage basin planning,
remedial programs, and capital improvement projects. Qualifications
include a B.S. in Civil Engineering and six years experience
in local or state government. Some private sector work history
is a plus. The successful applicant will receive a salary
of $46,500 to $73,000, full benefits and a relocation bonus.
